About me
I am a counsellor, mother and grandmother, and I find great fulfilment in supporting others. I am passionate about helping people to become their most authentic self, find understanding amongst their trauma, and build joyful relationships.

Contact
If you're thinking of working with me, I offer a free 15 minute intro chat where you can get to know me and talk about what you're hoping to bring to counselling. You can book this at the button below.
Otherwise, feel free to drop me an email:

My story
I went to boarding school between 9-18 years old. I moved from being central in a family, to fitting into a system in which I was always one of a group.
At 21, I began the journey of motherhood. I thought it would be a natural process - I would know what to do. In reality, I didn't! This has often been really challenging, and I am still learning how to be the best parent I can be.
I trained as a Steiner kindergarten teacher and 'taught' young children for the following 20 years, in England and then Scotland.
At 45, I trained as a counsellor and moved the direction of my work from children to adults.
Today I continue to learn and develop myself and my practice, to support people in understanding the roles, coping mechanisms and narratives we have learnt, often just to survive. Together, we look kindly at whether they are still serving us and where they may need some tweaking.

Things I love

Tangible techniques
Techniques I love to support your mental health:
-
Aim for 10%: Instead of setting a big goal, set a goal for 10% change. This makes it achievable - and over time, it gets you where you want to go.
-
Instead of saying 'I can't do it', say 'I can't do it yet.' This opens your mind to the possibility of change
-
Just because your brain says it, doesn't mean it is true! Step back and reflect on how things really are
-
When you are feeling destabilised or 'out of it', press your feet as hard as you can into the ground. This helps bring you back to the present.
-
Instead of being harsh and critical, talk to yourself like you would a friend. This offers the possibility for encouragement and gentle support
